Are you able to make out a word? Which one did you identify first?
Don’t worry, both are good answers.
Love & Hate
⚫ Circles = Attention ➖ Lines = Thoughts
The black circles are all identical in size and position. The difference lies in the movement of the grey lines.
Lines connect the Circles to spell words: Love & Hate.
Attention / Mindfulness
One’s attention, or mindfulness, is wherever or on whatever their mind fixates. This fixation is singular and ever changing. For example: You are reading a book. Your attention is fixated on visually parsing through text. This is representative of a Circle. Now if someone suddenly interrupts you from your reading with a question, you have two options:
Option 1: You will either lose track of what you’re reading to answer them, thus creating a new Circle or attention on the person and their question.
Option 2: Keep your attention on reading and ignore them.
Not an Option: Continue reading while answering the person’s question.
In the above example, one cannot do both options at full capacity. Because our mind is not able to pay attention to everything all the time. The Circles, therefore, represent the mind’s attention over time and space (see Attention over Time & Space). It’s not continuous. The mind can jump from one fixation to a totally unrelated one in a forward direction of time. All it takes is for a little something externally to grab your attention.
Thoughts / Thinking Process
One’s thoughts, or way of thinking, are subconsciously manifested by the mind, through its use of the body’s senses (sight, sound, touch, attraction, fear, etc).
The mind uses your physical make-up to fill in the gap between Circles to guide you how to think in a way that feels “natural”. Contrary to your Attention, this process is continuous (see Thoughts over Time & Space). For example: two people in the same situation focusing on the same thing at the same time, such as a movie, can have very opposing thoughts on the same matter. Although the point of attention is the same, the insight coming from the two different minds are very different. One person sees Love, the other sees Hate.
If we put the Circles and Lines together now, we realize how little control we have. Our external environment is alerting us where to pay attention and then our internal mind then creating a flow of thoughts in accordance, to paint a running picture in our head of what we’re paying attention to. Seeing this, we, the soul or observer, naturally don’t just accept all of it, we become enmeshed in it. We’re living and acting off of a projected movie that’s always running in our head.
Step outside.
You can form insight unblemished by external senses; an ability to see reality, something for all the possibilities it is and not just what you want it to be.
Can you look at the Circles in the middle of the featured image and form a new word? That means, wherever your mind is currently fixating, you’re now questioning what your thoughts are guiding and intently remaining neutral. You can form insight unblemished by external senses; an ability to see reality, something for all the possibilities it is and not just what you want it to be.

Alternate Example
Similarly, think of a pen: Circles represent the tip of a pen, Lines represent the ink flowing out. The mind is the hand holding that pen. Most people, only look at the words that are written and live their entire life trapped within their own singular perspective. Few, look at the tip of the pen and realize greater potential within singular situations, constrained to where the pen points (or where the dots are) but maintain greater awareness nevertheless.
Stare at the hand that wields the pen; the mind. Observe the ups and downs. Can you predict which direction it will go next? Study it. Learn it’s likes/dislikes, patterns, temperament, peculiarities, etc. When one becomes privy to the personality of their own mind, they can also gain mastery over it, and become the new hand that wields the pen. Unrestricted in where they put their attention, to what degree, and for how long. Aware of all perspectives and synchronicities.
Take life into your own hands. Go write your own destiny.
